ABOUT PERFORMANCE
Anton Adasinsky founded DEREVO in 1988. It is a physical theatre company that is one of the leaders of avant-garde theatre. It is busy with researching the synthetic nature of art, fundamental principles of performativity and psychophysical potential of a humane being. DEREVO system involves experimenting with physical, intellectual and emotional mechanisms. The foundation of this system lies in searching for stereotypes of behavior - both in life and on stage - identifying them and finally destroying.
Anton Adasinsky’s workshop at the Territory Festival will focus on the interaction within a theatre company and the process of communication between a director and a play, a director and his/her actor(s) etc. Anton will share his thoughts about auteur’s theatre and will give an inside view of how the rehearsals go at DEREVO theatre. He will overview the major theatre techniques such as: Gordon Craig (über-marionette), Vsevolod Meyerhold (absolute of the form), Jerzy Grotowski (religious theatre), The Factory of the Eccentric Actor (cult of the rhythm). He will also touch upon sound&music in theatre, variety of theatre spaces and several survival techniques for theatre in the modern world.
DEREVO performs on stage as well as outdoors and is known for mixing up dance, pantomime, clowning and many other forms of expression. DEREVO is an award winning company. Amongst the multiple prizes they have received are: The Golden Mask Award (for Ketzal), Berlin Art Prize, several awards of the Edinburgh Festival etc.
As a guest artist Anton Adasinsky performed the part of Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker (by Mikhail Shemiakin) at Mariinsky Theatre.

In 2001 he wrote, directed and performed the title role in his black and white surrealistic film South. Border. He got his Nika prize in 2013 for playing Mephistopheles in Alexander Sokurov’s Faust.
