ABOUT PERFORMANCE
MASTER CLASS WITH GALIN STOEV (BULGARIA)
“THE FIRST WORDS”
Galin Stoev is a Bulgarian experimental director having staged productions on the major stages of Paris, Brussels and Sofia.
The master class will be focused on the opening scenes of Shakespeare's three plays. The participants will try to gain maximum information about the play from the analysis of its opening scene and find the right clue to it on the basis of the elementary instruments of play reading that precedes the actual acting. In the beginning the analysis of the action and the situational conflict will be skipped in order to concentrate on the conflict on the level of words, sounds and allusions contained in the imagery and the sounding of the verses. This essential exercise is aimed to remind the actor of where to look for authenticity of the characters before the director spells out his vision of the play and his treatment of the personages. The titles of the plays will be announced only in the beginning of the master class so as to achieve the surprise effect.
