MASTER CLASS
“Klebebande“ (Germany)
“THE CHERRY ORCHARD“ OUT OF SCOTCH TAPE
„Klebebande” is the name of a group of Berlin artists representing a peculiar style of visual art known as „tape art”. The key material used by them is colored Scotch tape.
Bruno Kollberg, Kolja Bultmann and Bodo Höbing are young artists from Berlin who use hundreds of meters of colored Scotch tape to create intricate geometric figures, portraits, mystical landscapes and whatever might come into their heads. The graphic designer, painter and street graffiti artist have jointly worked out a distinctive and recognizable team style.
The participants in the master class will be split into several groups each working on a particular scene from Chekhov's “The Cherry Orchard“. The „canvases” for the painted sceneries will be the walls, the gates and the doors of the theatre quarter. And the main instrument at their disposal will be Scotch tape. The workshop will culminate in the joint multimedia show with separate components of the scenes coming to life with the help of video projections and music.
