ABOUT PERFORMANCE
The Forest is a synthetic production in the site-specific format, which may be performed both outdoors and inside. The performance is based on Vladimir Bibikhin’s philosophical treatise about the forest. Contemporary dance, choir singing in the Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian languages, music that combines the sounds of a lyrichord, guitar and kalimba – that’s how the actors of Brusnikin’s Workshop, in their plain canvas clothes, positioning themselves amongst logs, branches and leaves, speak about the forest as the world ground, the natural temple, the cultural code of prime importance. The history of the relationship of humans with the forest is, to some extent, the history of civilization, and people, while being full of fear and awe of its mysterious greatness, still have caused destruction and perdition to the forest for centuries. This performance is not just the modern human’s view of his “forest”, “woody” past, but also the return to our nature.
The performance has been produced with the support of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation
Duration: 1 hour.
