Based on notebooks of Paul Valery, Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Max Black
1 hour 35 minutes
The performance where actor, sound, light, fireworks effects work in a par with each other as partners and co-authors of the actions on stage. Fire flashes and fragments of notebooks of great thinkers exemplify inner world of scholar, path of his insights, and moments of his despair. Director and composer Heiner Goebbels goes away from traditional drama to the world where machines, fire and electricity, noises and melodies tell their own stories along with man and became the instruments for creating polyphony.
Be careful. One of the characters, sulfur smell, might cause allergy.
The first staging of the performance was shown in Vidy Theatre (Switzerland) in 1998.
