Henrik Ibsen is known in Norway and abroad as a playwright, few have heard of his unfinished opera libretto, which has not been touched since 1859. Exactly 150 years later, the Grusomhetens Teater is the first to stage it using the music of contemporary Norwegian composer Filip Sande. The Mountain Bird is both the illustration of how to apply Artaud’s system to opera and an attempt to breathe life into a forgotten text through its ritualization.
