Olga Rayeva: “Dreams of the Minotaur is conceived as a synthetic composition (i.e. comprising the elements of opera, ballet, installation and some other arts) for a musical theatre. It consists of eight dreams/novellas/scenes, each being a part of the whole and at the same time an independent piece of theatre. In each part the text and the music interact in a variety of ways creating a distinctive genre of its own”. «The work on Dreams of the Minotaur to the libretto by the classic of modern Russian literature Vladimir Sorokin is to be completed by 2014. As for now the Moscow audiences are invited to visit the author's workshop and be present at the birth of the art piece:'Modern Opera Lab' will present three finished scenes from the yet incomplete score:'The Quest','The Rhino Shepherd's Daughter' and'The Seven Dreams'».
The format of the production underscores its experimental nature: the operatic'work-in-progress' will be staged by three directors — the graduate of Russian Theatre Academy Yekaterina Vasilyova and her debut-making colleagues Kirill Vytoptov and Ilya Shagalov.
