Four acts of Anton Chekhov’s 'Three Sisters' play staged by Timofey Kulyabin is a true parade of genres — dark comedy, psychological drama, and thriller. The change of mood and atmosphere feels more and more dramatic as we go forward, and the Chekhov’s core motive becomes more and more desperate.
To leave the backcountry, to serve the purposes of sciences, to work — everybody from Prozorovs family brought to our times by the director agrees with each other; everybody is seeking happiness. The characters of the play are not destined to understand the way that tragedy emerges from their mutual impulse up until the drop-scene. And the fact that they are not actually listening to each other is not the only reason for it.
